As many of you probably already know, this has been our best day ever. We were picked up around 11:00 this morning by Maria Teresa de Perez (our driver) and we were off to FANA. Our 30 minute ride there was full of such anticipation. Finally we arrived at FANA and were led into the "green room." For those of you who may not know, the green room is where the presentation of the child to his/her family takes place. From the green room, we were taken to meet with Elizabeth, the wonderful nurse who took such great care of Luke, to receive his medical information, schedule, etc. We were then led back to the green room to await our presentation. Also waiting in the green room were two families, one of which was awaiting the referral of her son, Andres, who I believe is 12 years old. What a beautiful moment to witness their presentation right before ours. Then the moment we had been waiting for was mere seconds away. We could hear the voices of Mercedes (founder of FANA), Elena (director of FANA), Elizabeth, and many other wonderful staff fussing over Luke in the hallway right outside the room. Luke was just a few feet away from us. Finally they made their way into the room and there he was. Just perfect! He is so beautiful!!! He was very calm and amazingly seemed very comfortable with us right away (comfortable enough to fall asleep in the car on the way back to our hotel). The rest of our day was great just getting to know one another. He is such a calm and happy baby, who loves to smile, blow raspberries, and talk up a storm. He also seems to be doing well developmentally. We were so surprised when we put him on his belly to play and he pulled himself up and began to crawl. So, it's been a great day. The way he touches my face when I give him his bottle or how he searches for Kenny when he leaves the room, it is just wonderful. Well both of the boys are sleeping right now so I guess I better get some rest too. Thanks so much for all the posts. We are so grateful for all of your love and support. Oh Jess he is so beautiful! My eyes welled up with tears when I saw the photo of you and Kevin reaching for Luke. The photo of Luke and Daddy looking so intently into each others eyes is breath taking. My heart is swollen with joy and happiness for you all. Can't wait to be able to hold my $1000 boy in my arms. Or thinking "That's our baby!!!" Those first hours and days together seem so fresh to us... it's the best feeling.
