Eight Months Old Today

We woke up this morning to the sound of Luke talking and laughing in his crib. What a great way to start the day. It was time for Kenny to head back to work today. We are so fortunate that he can work out of the Bogota office so he doesn't have to leave Luke and me here while we wait for the courts. Kenny has worked with the South American business units on a regular basis while in Swiftwater. Having worked with this unit in the past conveniently allows him to transition into work here in the Bogota office. Kenny's collegues have been so kind and helpful from the moment we arrived in Colombia. They've gone out of their way to ensure our stay goes smoothly. Kenny had a good day at work, while Luke and I had a fun day of playing. It was my first time really on my own with Luke and I have to say we did quite well together. It was so sweet to watch Luke when Kenny got back. Luke went wild, wiggling up and down in his brace, smiling, and practically jumping at Kenny. I think he missed him. Luke also learned a new word (kind of a word). Instead of the nanana babble he now says dadada. (I'm working on mamama with him). We headed out for dinner to celebrate Luke's eight month birthday. It's a special one because it's the first one we've gotten to celebrate with him. We went to the Bogota Beer Company again. Kenny and I celebrated with beer and great food and Luke celebrated with his bottle and some chicken/spinach soup. We talked a bit with the couple who owns the restaurant, who we came to find out the wife is from the states. They said they own 9 Bogota Beer Companies around the city. It started to rain pretty heavily while we were there but it wasn't a problem, we just continued to eat and drink until it stopped. We enjoyed a nice walk back to our apartment. I'll try to share some of the sights and sounds we experience in this part of Bogota. It is a clean city, with beautiful views of the Andes mountains surrounding you. Tons of traffic, horns, horns and more horns. We can't understand how there is not an accident every five minutes with the way people drive here. It seems as if there are no rules and no lanes. There are vendors everywhere, but not selling pretzels and peanuts. Instead they sell fresh fruit, bags of chips, lots of lollipops. The people here seem to love their ice cream. Everywhere we look someone has an ice cream. We see a lot of nurses/caretakers in scrubs and some of them walking around with possibly their elderly patients. There are tons of dress shops, including formal dresses, tuxes, wedding dresses. And lots of pregnant women and babies everywhere. The Colombian people are really beautiful and overall have been really kind to us, even me a blond haired, light eyed, American girl. Kenny has an easier time. He could pass for Colombian. Many strangers have commented how handsome Luke is and how he looks just like his father. Well we're off to bed early tonight. We are heading to Monserrate with Jorge Rico in the morning. Oh and we wanted to tell our nephew Michael good luck with his big basketball game tomorrow. Score some points for your new cousin.
