We started our day by meeting up with our driver, who then took us for our first official part of the adoption process. We had to go to the notary to prepare our paperwork for our bienestar interview on Monday (more to come on that). We were joined at the notary by another couple who received their daughter, Carla, from FANA on Wednesday. They are a really nice couple who is from Barcelona, Spain. They have a really interesting story. Martha (the mother of Carla) is the youngest of 8 siblings. Her siblings have already adopted 12 children from FANA and now her and her husband's adoption of Carla makes it 13 children in their family adopted from FANA. Carla is four months and is just beautiful. So after leaving the notary, we headed to a clinic nearby to get Luke's next round of immunizations that he was due for. Fortunately, Kenny works in the vaccine industry and a wonderful collegue of his who runs the Colombian business unit for Sanofi Pasteur called prior to our arrival to ensure we received the best care for Luke. Luke did great (his mom and dad, not so well). We felt so bad. The poor kid just meets his new mom and dad, and here we are getting his shots and having him fitted for his brace. But, it's all what is best for him. Luke adapts so well to anything. I've attached some pictures of him post vaccination (he is sitting on the couch) and he is still all smiles. So after a few quick stops on the way home, we enjoyed a nice night in with pizza and cold cervezas in our apartment (we've attached pictures so you can see where we are living). We are finally unpacked, feeling more settled, and so excited for the weeks ahead here in Colombia.

ReplyDeleteOh guys I remember taking the boys when they were Lukes age for different vaccinations, my ped always has the mom hold the baby while he gives the little guy the shot. I remember all of them looking at me smiling one second then the doctor saying 1..2..3.. and the look of "Mom how can you do that to me"... They were all fine before we even left the office but me I'm like you I felt horribe! Good news is I think they all forgot those visits by now. I love Lukes little smile!! Miss you guys and keeping all of you in my prayers!
