Exploring Our Neighborhood

Well we hope Luke's sleepless night was one and done because he slept really well last night. We were so thankful because that must mean he is a bit more comfortable with his brace. He even took a good nap this morning so I was able to get a run in and Kenny got some work done. We had a really nice afternoon. The weather was beautiful. We stopped and had lunch at El Correl (a hamburger place). We then decided to do some walking and explore this part of Luke's hometown a bit more. We found some great areas full of neat open air restaurants, shops, and art galleries. We enjoyed a great coffee at the Juan Valdez Cafe, located in a really nice area (we include pictures of it). I have to say Amy (one of our buddy couples) you gave us a great map. Kenny is usually always lost and can never read a map, but yours worked out just fine. Everything was just where you said it would be and it was a great help. We are really enjoying Bogota, well at least the parts that we have seen so far. We have some things lined up for next week to start exploring the area a bit more with Jorge Rico (the other driver/tour guide). So for today, Luke had a really good day-brace and all. One thing we found interesting was when he was sleeping in his stroller and suddenly woke up and didn't see us because we were behind it. He saw the face of a stranger first and started to cry. However, immediately upon seeing Kenny and me he was comforted. We find it amazing that in such a short period of time he knows us and loves us. But anyway, for dinner we picked up a pizza from this place right across the street called Pan Pa Ya. The pizza is pretty good and Kenny is getting better at ordering what we want. Much better than the first night when he tried to express he wanted 4 slices of pizza and ended up with four large pies/trays (for you NEPA readers). We then stopped by to say goodbye to one of the New York families who are heading home in the morning. They have been here just about a month and have adopted two beautiful children, a brother and sister. They adopted a baby girl about six years ago from FANA and so wonderfully have decided to expand their family with two more great kids. Well we're off to have our pizza. Hopefully Luke will sleep well again, but I'm not so sure since it's only been about an hour since he's asleep and he's already a bit restless.

  1. Jess and Kenny, So glad to hear that Luke seems to be getting used to his brace. All those well wishes and prayers from home must have been heard. Can't wait to see you guys. It seems like you are really enjoying your time in Colombia...good for you! X's and O's to little Luke!
