The Anticipation....

We've heard many of you were having difficulty posting comments. We think we have fixed it and would love to hear from you. Today, we enjoyed our last day of sleeping in and got some much needed rest. We had a great day today getting settled in and exploring the area around our apartment. We're very thankful we were able to arrive last night and get some things organized today. The area around us is really nice. They have a great festival (see picture) right in the courtyard of our hotel/apartment every Sunday, so we spent a little time there and then made our way to the mall and grocery store for some last minute things. We just can't believe that this day has finally arrived. We are so excited! The anticipation is intense - to think this is the last night he will spend at FANA and the last night we will ever have to be without him. We wonder how his looks have changed since his referral picture, what his personality will be like, what his little hands and feet are like. We could go on and on......We are so grateful and can't wait to finally hold him in our arms tomorrow. Please keep the three of us in your prayers. We can't wait to share our pictures and thoughts of our great day with everyone tomorrow.

We've arrived!

We had a great send off from our family this morning. Through many happy tears we said goodbye. We still couldn't believe we were really going. Our time to travel was finally here. We made it to the airport (thanks al and kevin) and had a great flight. We were overjoyed to hear the flight crew say "welcome to Bogota". We're really here! For so long Luke has been thousands of miles away and now to know he is so close is a great feeling. We made it through immigration/customs without any touble, all our bags arrived safely with us, and Jorge (our driver) was waiting for us just as everyone explained he would be. (Amy and Phil you were right about the thousands of eyes peering through the window as you come through customs and look for Jorge). We had a short ride from the airport to our apartment and Jorge was very kind and pointed out restaurants, grocery stores, etc. He helped us check in and accompanied us right to our room. He was a huge help. So now we are going to try to get some sleep. Looking forward to getting settled in tomorrow and the big day Monday!! We feel so blessed to be here and are so excited for the journey ahead!

Finally finished packing. Packing efficiently has never been one of Jess's strongpoints but we are finally done and cannot wait to travel later today.

Our Journey

We feel truly blessed to welcome our beautiful son, Luke Samuel, born June 16 2009, to our family. We received our referral on December 23 2009 and it was by far our best Christmas ever. The past few weeks have been spent getting the necessary paperwork in order and preparing to travel. We have been showered with love and wonderful gifts from our family and friends. Finally, we received confirmation that we are cleared to travel. We will be leaving on Saturday, January 30 and plan to meet our son on Monday, February 1. We are so excited to meet him and cannot wait to begin our journey!!
